Brief Description:

This is a mezzotint print that has been printed in colors and is signed by artist and engraver Will Henderson after the 1812 original painting by Lemuel Francis Abbott (1760 - 1803). This version was printed by Vicars Brothers, 12 Old Bond Street, London and executed in 1914, signed by Henderson in pencil, in the lower right hand corner. The subject is William Innes, Captain of the Society of Golfers at Blackheath, England in 1778. The original engraving was produced in 1790, which is the first print ever published depicting golf.
